UPT United Product Tankers GmbH & Co. KG

The roots of UPT United Product Tankers GmbH & Co. KG go back to 1986 when its predecessor was founded by two leading Hamburg shipowners to optimise the marketing and operations of their individual fleets of chemical tankers. Originally the fleet also comprised product tankers which from January 2003 onwards were commercially managed by a separate company, namely UPT, operating from joint offices.

In 1996 the first two newbuilding handy-size tankers were contracted into commercial management. At present UPT is responsible for the Pool- and Commercial Management of close to 40 product tankers between 12.000 tdw and 75.000 tdw. The UPT tankers operate predominantly in the Atlantic Basin, the Americas and across Europe. UPT have also established a regular trade in the Indian Ocean and West Africa. Annually approx. 12 million tones of petroleum products and easy chemicals are shipped for major oil companies and traders. A variety of different products is carried including gasoline, naphtha, gasoil, condensate, fuel oil, MTBE and many other grades.

From offices in Hamburg and Philadelphia UPT offers to its customers a very flexible, cost effective, safe and environmentally friendly transportation of oil products. More modern and sophisticated newbuildings will be added in line with customer and market requirements in the next years, both from existing and from new partners thus pooling an extremely modern fleet and realizing synergy effects.
